Development of physical and mathematical models of spontaneous polarization potentials for oil and gas well logging

Among a large number of geophysical well logging methods, the spontaneous potential (SP) is most demanded one for studying geological sections, and widely used in all drilled wells. This paper presents brief review main studies on enhancement theoretical model SP phenomenon, creation algorithms numerical modeling data. First all, we discuss that were conducted shortly after discovery phenomenon became fundamental field method theory. Most first works aimed at identifying key factors influence shape amplitude signals. The research vector these contributed to interpretation charts, which are even today. also analyses results more recent developing quantitative takes into account petrophysical properties environment, related approaches In addition, demonstrate effectiveness modern computational an original algorithm based finite element utilizing correct physical mathematical phenomenon. proposed approach makes it possible calculate signals intervals clayed reservoirs, with consideration their porosity, water saturation, as type content clay minerals. Comparison data obtained from wells Western Siberian fields shows high quality our model. presented devoted description method, analysing curves complex conditions, demonstrates new areas practical application.
